When Kia arrived in Frankfurt with their GT Concept, critics and enthusiasts immediately wanted to know when - not if - Kia had plans to bring the vehicle into production. As it is, many concept vehicles at auto shows aren't ever destined to hit showroom floors, so when the question is up in the air, here at Turner Kia, we try not to get our hopes up. According to recent reports though, the GT Concept will, in fact, become a production model. And that is one decision that we can most definitely get behind.
The rear-wheel-drive, four-door sedan features a design that looks distinctly sporty. "No matter from which perspective you look at it - this concept car is roaring with energy and ready for a take-off," says Peter Schreyer, Kia Motors Chief Design Officer, "I believe the car is a strong statement from Kia: we are ready to fast forward to an all-new chapter."1
As of yet, we only know a few select details about the production model Kia GT. The automaker has confirmed that it will be ready for the market in 2013, and that along with the sedan version, they're considering a two-door coupe and a wagon. We also know that the GT Concept featured a V6 engine and 390-horsepower under the hood, so we're expecting something around there for the production model's power plant.
Whatever the final production model looks like, we're sure it'll be nothing short of amazing. And this is most definitely a clear signal from Kia that they're ready to take on larger German automakers in the powerful sports car segment.
That said, Turner Kia, located at 4291 Chambers Hill Rd Harrisburg, PA 17111, can't wait to see how this all turns out. Be sure to stay tuned with us for more updates, soon. And feel free to contact us via our website with any questions about this or any other new Kia models.
