Editors chose the Sorento as one of the four best compact SUVs because of its GDI engine, Kia's UVO voice-activated infotainment system, power passenger seat and power-folding mirrors, great fuel economy, cooled and heated front seats and starting price of just $21,250. It's also the first-ever U.S.-built Kia. The Sportage was applauded for its design as well as it convenience, comfort and safety features. The 260-hp, 2.0-liter Turbo GDI engine is super fuel-efficient (29-mpg/highway), and the car has a starting MSRP of just $18,500.

Critics have been buzzing about the 2012 Kia Soul for a while now, so it's no surprise that it was named a "Best Buy" in the Compact category. Consumers Digest agreed, awarding the Kia Soul for it's class-leading horsepower, EPA-estimated 35-mpg/highway, Idle Stop and Go (ISG) technology, and its exceptional value with a low starting price of just $13,900.
